July 16, 2021 Appeal for Opinions on Drafted Third Edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has recently decided to revise the second edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service (published in July 2018), which summarized information security measures for cloud service provision. Accordingly, MIC will make an appeal for opinions on the drafted third edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service from Saturday, July 17 through Sunday, August 15, 2021.

1. Overview

MIC published Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service in April 2014 to promote the use of safe and secure cloud services. After that, MIC considered the risks involved in cloud services to provide IoT services, made a revision, and released the second edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service in July 2018.
Then, MIC reviewed the contents further, considering the division of responsibilities in cloud services and consistency with international standards while listening to experts’ opinions.
Based on the results of the study, MIC decided to revise the second edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service and drafted the third edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service (Outline: Attached PDF 1, Body: Attached PDF 2). Accordingly, MIC has decided to make this appeal for opinions on the draft from Saturday, July 17 through Sunday, August 15, 2021.

3. Future plans

MIC will finalize and release the third edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service by the autumn of 2021, considering the submitted opinions.
