August 11, 2021 August 11, 2021 Signing Memorandum of Cooperation in the Postal Field with the Kingdom of Thailand

Mr. TAKEDA Ryota, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in the Postal Field between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) of Japan and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) of the Kingdom of Thailand (hereafter referred to as “Thailand”). The MOC has been exchanged at the 5th meeting of the Japan-Thailand High Level Joint Commission (HLJC), which was held today.

1. Background of MOC

MIC and Thailand’s MDES have been holding discussions, and they have agreed on frameworks for cooperation to sign the new MOC to further reinforce both countries’ cooperation in the postal field.
Mr. TAKEDA Ryota, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, and His Excellency Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, signed the MOC. Then Mr. KUMADA Hiromichi, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, and Mr. Newin Chochaiyathip, Vice Minister of Digital Economy and Society, have exchanged the MOC at the 5th HLJC meeting.

2. Main frameworks for cooperation

    Information sharing and exchange views on postal policies
  • 2.
    Support for the promotion of discussions for the establishment of cooperative relationships between designated operators in the two countries
  • 3.
    Setting up a forum for proposing collaborative projects related to postal services and post offices

3. Future policy

Based on the MOC, MIC will strengthen its cooperation in the postal field between Thailand and Japan.
