August 20, 2021 Result of Public Appeal (Re-appeal) for Proposals on R&D for Expansion of Radio Wave Resources for Fiscal 2021

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made a public appeal (for the second time) from Tuesday, May 25 through Friday, June 25, 2021, for proposals on research and development (R&D) for an expansion of radio wave resources to be conducted in and after fiscal 2021. Then, MIC conducted an external evaluation of the proposals submitted and adopted two proposals based on the results of the external evaluation.

1. Overview

MIC is conducting R & D for expanding radio wave resources to reduce the tightness of frequencies and effectively use radio waves to respond to the expanding needs of radio waves.
Accordingly, MIC made a public appeal for proposals from Tuesday, March 16 through Monday, April 19, 2021, for R&D for an expansion of radio wave resources to be conducted in and after fiscal 2021. In this connection, MIC made a public re-appeal for one of the R&D themes from Tuesday, May 25 through Friday, June 25, 2021. As a result, MIC received four applications from private companies and other research institutions.
