August 27, 2021 Seminars with Free Legal Consultations on Guidelines for Regulation on Transaction of produced Broadcast Content

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold seminars with free legal consultations on the Guidelines for Regulation on Transaction of produced Broadcast Content for those involved in the production transactions of broadcasting content between broadcasters and program production companies.

1. Background

MIC has taken necessary measures, including the formulation and revision of the Guidelines for Regulation on Transaction of produced Broadcast Content (hereafter referred to as the “Guidelines”) from the perspective of promoting the production and distribution of high-quality and attractive broadcast content, and is promoting related initiatives.
As a part of this effort, MIC has decided to continue holding a set of seminars with free legal consultations on the Guidelines for Regulation on Transaction of produced Broadcast Content for those involved in the production transactions of broadcasting content between broadcasters and program production companies*1, as MIC did in fiscal 2020.

Seminars with Free Legal Consultations on Guidelines for Regulation on Transaction of produced Broadcast Content

2. Overview

The seminars will be held on interpreting laws and regulations related to the production of broadcast content. The lawyer in charge will use case examples in the seminars to explain the points that businesses must comply with from the perspective of the Subcontract Act*2 and the Antimonopoly Act.
In addition, free individual legal consultations*3 with lawyers will be held 30 minutes before and after each seminar. Feel free to use this service to check the interpretation of related laws and regulations individually or have any specific concerns or problems regarding production transactions.
