August 27, 2021 Organizing Study Group on Information and Communications Economics

The Institute for Information and Communications Policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will organize a study group on information and communications economics. This study group will research domestic and international systems, policies, theories, and empirical evidence related to information and communications policies from an economic perspective to contribute to forming information and communications policies in the future.

1. Background and purpose

The Institute for Information and Communications Policy (hereafter the “IICP”) is engaged in advanced and fundamental research to plan and formulate future information and communications policies in the current drastically changing information and communications environment. In addition, the IICP is strengthening its collaboration with researchers in the field of information and communications.
In November 2010, the IICP organized a study group on information and communications laws. Then the study group has been researching domestic and international legal systems, precedents, and theories on information and communications policies. Furthermore, since November 2017, the IICP has been publishing an academic journal entitled Information and Communications Policy Research to contribute to developing basic research and studies on information and communications policies.
The study group will research domestic and international systems, policies, theories, and empirical evidence related to information and communications policies from an economic perspective and contribute to forming information and communication policies in the future.

The study group will research domestic and international systems, policies, theories, and empirical evidence on the issues specified below from an economic perspective.
