September 14, 2021 Survey related to Use of Frequency bands in Fifth-generation Mobile Communications System

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will conduct a survey from today through Friday, October 1, 2021, to grasp operators’ needs for the use of frequency bands in the fifth-generation mobile communications system (5G).

1. Background purpose

MIC has been making efforts in sequence toward the early spread and deployment of 5G. These efforts include approval of a plan to establish specified base stations for spreading 5G (April 14, 2021) and institutional development to introduce 5G in the frequency bands used for other systems, such as the fourth-generation mobile communications system (4G).
Toward the further spread of 5G, MIC will conduct this survey to grasp the needs for the use of frequency bands in 5G.

2. Positioning of this survey

This survey is a primary survey to grasp the needs for the use of frequency bands toward the spread of 5G.
Responses to this survey are voluntary, and they will not limit the acceptability or content of future applications. Furthermore, the use of frequency bands in 5G will not be permitted by responding to this survey.
MIC will accept and examine applications under the laws, after necessary public comments and institutional development, including the establishment of guidelines.
