September 30, 2021 Result of Appeal for Opinions on Drafted Third Edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service and Release of Finalized Guidelines

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) made an appeal for a wide range of opinions on the drafted third edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service from Saturday, July 17 through Sunday, August 15, 2021.
As a result, 12 opinions were submitted. Accordingly, MIC will open the submitted opinions, MIC’s views on the opinions, along with the finalized third edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service.

1. Overview

MIC published Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service in April 2014 to promote the use of safe and secure cloud services. After that, MIC considered the risks involved in cloud services to provide IoT services, made a revision, and released the second edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service in July 2018.
Then, MIC reviewed the contents further, considering the division of responsibilities in cloud services and consistency with international standards while listening to experts’ opinions.
MIC made an appeal for opinions from Saturday, July 17 through Sunday, August 15, 2021, on the drafted third edition of Information Security Guidelines for Cloud Service that was compiled based on the results of MIC’s study. As a result, 12 opinions were submitted. Therefore, MIC has decided to open the opinions and MIC’s views on the opinions as well.
