January 7, 2022 Public Appeal for Organizations to Implement Digital Interference Countermeasure Project

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make a public appeal from Friday, January 7 through Monday, February 7, 2022, for organizations to make environmental improvements and provide support for the smooth migration of conventional broadcasting to digital terrestrial broadcasting (under a digital interference countermeasure project) pertaining to the fiscal 2022 budget.

Analog terrestrial television broadcasting ended nationwide by March 31, 2012, and has migrated to terrestrial digital broadcasting. However, in some areas, terrestrial digital broadcasting reception failures continue to occur due to the abnormal propagation of radio waves. It is necessary to take permanent measures to eliminate this problem.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to make the following public appeal for organizations to implement a digital interference countermeasure project pertaining to the fiscal 2022 budget.
MIC makes this appeal before the fiscal 2022 budget bill passes the Diet so that eligible organizations can start the project as soon as possible. It should be kept in mind that the implementation of the project, its contents, and financial source for the project are subject to change according to the passage of the budget bill.

4. How to submit application documents

Submit a complete set of application documents (an original and a copy) by postal mail or email (if you wish to submit your application by email, consult with the Broadcasting Technology Division in advance. It will provide you with separate instructions on how to submit your application).
Documents submitted will not be returned.

5. Screening method

After making a formal and written review of the selection, eligible organizations will be decided according to the opinions of external experts.
