November 1, 2022 Commencement of ISMAP-LIU Operation

A new ISMAP-LIU system for SaaS used for processing operations and information with low security risk has been created under the ISMAP framework. The new system went into operation on November 1, 2022.

1. Purpose

The Information system Security Management and Assessment Program (hereinafter referred to as "ISMAP") is operated by the ministries and agencies with jurisdiction over the ISMAP systems—namely, the National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) of the Cabinet Secretariat, the Digital Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)—under the Basic Framework for the Security Assessment System for Cloud Services Introduced into Government Information Systems (decided by the Cybersecurity Strategy Headquarters on January 30, 2020).
Under the ISMAP framework, a new system of ISMAP for Low-Impact Use (ISMAP-LIU) for SaaS used for processing operations and information with low security risk has been created and went into operation on November 1, 2022.
It is anticipated that the operation of ISMAP-LIU will promote further expansion in cloud by default.
In conjunction with this, MIC has also decided to disclose the results of the public comment process undertaken from Wednesday, June 15 to Tuesday, July 5, 2022, regarding the various rules, etc. of ISMAP-LIU.

MIC will post the results of solicitation of opinions on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/ Open a new window).
