February 1, 2022 Holding Postal Administration Monitoring Meeting

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold postal administration monitoring meetings to strengthen MIC’s supervision system in postal administration and promote proper monitoring of the business sector with the advice of experts.

1. Purpose

Recent years, there have been serious scandals of the business sector in the field of postal administration. In light of this, MIC has been working to strengthen the compliance and governance of the business sector by formulating supervisory guidelines for the service provider under its jurisdiction in August 2021, based on the report of the Roundtable Conference on the Ideal Postal Services in the Digital Age(published on July 21, 2021).
However, there continue to be scandals in the business sector. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the appropriateness and soundness of management by calling for the further reinforcement of the compliance and governance systems and encouraging the reliable implementation of measures to prevent recurrences.
Accordingly, MIC has newly decided to hold postal administration monitoring meetings (hereafter referred to as the “meetings”). The purpose of the meetings is to strengthen MIC’s supervision system in the postal administration field and promote the proper monitoring of the business sector with the advice of experts.
