February 1, 2022 Results of FY2021 Japan-Saudi Arabia ICT Public-Private Workshop

Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held the fiscal 2021 Japan-Saudi ICT Public-Private Workshop online with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on January 27, 2022. From Japan, MIC, ICT-related companies, etc., and from Saudi Arabia, MCIT, the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA), the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Embassy of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Japan, ICT-related companies, etc., attended the meeting.
In this workshop, the two countries exchanged opinions and views on digital infrastructure including 5G, smart cities utilizing AI and IoT, and medical ICT. It deepened their mutual understanding to deploy Japanese ICT technologies in Saudi Arabia.

1. Results of the workshop

This workshop is based on the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 and the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between MIC and MCIT in the field of ICT. The workshop was held to gather information on investment in Saudi Arabia and build a network through information sharing between the public and private sectors in Japan and Saudi Arabia in order to create and expand Japanese companies’ business.
In the workshop, both Japan and Saudi Arabia introduced their initiatives and businesses, and exchanged opinions on 5G use cases, digital infrastructure, smart city solutions utilizing AI and IoT, and medical ICT.
MIC and MCIT will continue taking the lead in strengthening the bilateral cooperation of both countries in the field of ICT.
