March 25, 2022 Release of Summary Report on Utilization Measures for Broadcast Frequencies (regarding Former Terrestrial Broadcasting Site of the Open University of Japan and V-Low Band)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions from Wednesday, January 19 through Friday, February 18, 2022, on a summary report on utilization measures for broadcast frequencies (regarding the former terrestrial broadcasting site of the Open University of Japan and V-Low band) drafted by the Study Subcommittee on Utilization Measures for Broadcast Frequencies (chaired by ITO Susumu, part-time professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Science). As a result, 48 opinions were submitted on the draft summary report.
MIC releases the Summary Report on Utilization Measures for Broadcast Frequencies that has been finalized based on the result of solicitation of opinions, and also discloses the submitted opinions.

1. Background

From the viewpoint of the effective use of frequencies allocated for broadcasting, MIC has been holding meetings of the Study Subcommittee on Utilization Measures under MIC’s Study Group on Various Issues over Broadcasting (chaired by TAGAYA Kazuteru, professor emeritus at Chiba University) to examine various utilization measures. The Study Subcommittee compiled a basic policy in January 2020 and June 2021. Based on the basic policy, the Study Subcommittee conducted a study on utilizing the former terrestrial broadcasting site of the Open University of Japan and V-Low band.
The Study Subcommittee drafted a summary report on utilization measures for broadcast frequencies (regarding the former terrestrial broadcasting site of the Open University of Japan and V-Low band). MIC solicited opinions on the draft from Wednesday, January 19 through Friday, February 18, 2022, and received 48 opinions.
MIC releases the Summary Report on Utilization Measures for Broadcast Frequencies that has been finalized based on the result of solicitation of opinions, and also discloses the submitted opinions.
