March 28, 2022 Authorization for Changes of Interconnection Tariffs Relating to Category I Designated Telecommunications Facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (Revision of Interconnection Charges for FY2022)

Report from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received today a report from the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council concerning authorization for changes of the interconnection tariffs relating to Category I designated telecommunications facilities of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (revision of interconnection charges for FY2022) (Inquiry No. 3148, dated January 14, 2022).
In consideration of this report, MIC will promptly grant authorization to change the interconnection tariffs.

1. Outline of changes (with the Council's views indicated in [ ])

1. Revision of interconnection charges for FY2022 for subscriber optical fiber lines [appropriate to grant authorization]

The future cost accounting method is applied to the calculation of interconnection charges for subscriber optical fiber lines. A partial change will be made to the interconnection tariffs to revise the interconnection charges.

2. Revision of interconnection charges for FY2022 based on historical cost accounting method [appropriate to grant authorization]

The historical cost accounting method is applied to metal (dry copper) subscriber lines and leased lines. A partial change will be made to the interconnection tariffs to revise the interconnection charges.
