March 29, 2022 31st Central Emergency Communications Council Awards

The Central Emergency Communications Council (CECC) (chaired by NIOMIYA Seiji, Director-General of the Telecommunications Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) has conferred the 31st Central Emergency Communications Council Awards on six organizations that made significant contributions to securing communications in times of disaster in fiscal 2021.

1. Outline

The CECC confers awards on individuals and organizations that made a contribution to emergency communications or the operations of emergency communications councils, to ensure smooth emergency communications.
For fiscal 2021, a total of six organizations were awarded, including two organizations that made a notable contribution in securing means of communication and providing information to disaster-related organizations during the heavy rain on July 2021, and four organizations that made a contribution to the efforts of emergency communications councils.

1. For contribution to securing means of communication during a disaster

• Kanto Regional Police Bureau, Shizuoka Information and Communication Office
• Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Chubu Regional Development Bureau

2. For contribution to the CECC's activity

• Hokkaido Red Cross Radio Volunteer Team
• Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company
• General Incorporated Association, Shunan Fishery Radio Communications Association
• HIRAJO Masataka (former Director, Electricity and Telecommunication Office, Engineering Affairs Division, Minister's Secretariat, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism)

  Awardees are selected by deliberation at the Award Assessment Committee based on recommendation by members of the councils, from individuals and organizations contributing to the area of emergency communication, including contribution to disaster measures in each year and contribution to the councils for a long time.
