March 31, 2022 Announcement of Clarification of Issues by Study Group on the Ideal Broadcasting System in the Digital Age

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) releases the Clarification of Issues concerning the Ideal Broadcasting System in the Digital Age, summarizing the discussion at the Study Group on the Ideal Broadcasting System in the Digital Age (Chaired by MITOMO Hiroshi, Professor, Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University).

1. Background

With the spread of broadband infrastructure and the diversification of devices, such as smartphones, digitalization is rapidly advancing throughout society. Against this backdrop, MIC has launched the Study Group on the Ideal Broadcasting System in the Digital Age on November 8, 2021, to discuss the future of broadcasting and the ideal broadcasting system from a medium- to long-term perspective.
