April 5, 2022 Public Solicitation of Proposals for FY2022 Smart City Promotion Project for Solving Community Issues

As part of efforts towards the systematic implementation of smart cities nationwide, the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will collaborate to make a public solicitation for FY2022 projects related to smart cities from today through May 16, 2022.

MIC intends to promote implementation of smart cities aimed at solving various issues facing communities (disaster prevention, security/watching over, shopping support, etc.) through utilization of digital technologies and data. Toward solving community issues through introduction of smart cities, MIC will make a public solicitation of proposals for a Smart City Promotion Project for Solving Community Issues and other projects related to smart cities, jointly with the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
MIC will solicit and adopt the projects together with the Cabinet Office and other relevant ministries implementing projects related to smart cities by establishing a Joint Screening Committee for Projects related to Smart Cities as in FY2021.

1. Projects related to smart cities for which relevant ministries will jointly make a public solicitation (projects subject to joint screening)

    Project on Social Implementation of Future Technology (Secretariat for Promotion of Regional Revitalization, Cabinet Office)
  • 2.
    Smart City Promotion Projects for Solving Community Issues (Information and Communications Bureau, MIC)
  • 3.
    Project on Promoting New Regional MaaS Creation (Manufacturing Industries Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)
  • 4.
    Japanese Version of MaaS Promotion and Support Project (Policy Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism)
  • 5.
    Smart City Implementation Support Project (City Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism)

2. Public solicitation period

From Tuesday, April 5, 2022, and no later than 12:00 am on Monday, May 16, 2022

3. Selection of projects

Proposals will be selected on a project-by-project basis according to the evaluation by the Joint Screening Committee for Projects related to Smart Cities.
