April 11, 2022 Inviting Applications for the 10th Robot Award

Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) starts to invite applications for the 10th Robot Award, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

1. Outline

The Robot Awards program aims to commend outstanding robots that are highly expected to contribute to the creation of markets in the future, for the purpose of promoting the development and commercialization of robot technology and enhancing the recognition of robots that will be of service to society. This award program has been offered since 2006 by MIC and other ministries mentioned above, and it is the 10th occasion this year.

2. Invitation of applications

Applications for the 10th Robot Award will be invited from Monday, April 11 to Friday, June 3, 2022, covering the six fields in the seven departments specified below.

5. Future schedule

• Monday, April 11: Commencement of invitation of applications
• Friday, June 3: Deadline of submission of applications (Applications submitted by postal mail must also arrive no later than this deadline.)
• Autumn of this year: Decision and announcement of the recipients of the awards
