April 22, 2022 Public Solicitation (1st Solicitation) for Research Implementers for Beyond 5G R&D Promotion Project (General Type) under FY2021 Supplementary Budget
The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) will make a public solicitation (1st solicitation) for research implementers for the Beyond 5G R&D Promotion Project (General Type) under the FY2021 Supplementary Budget.
1. Purpose of the project
This project aims to promote research and development of the elemental technologies necessary to realize Beyond 5G, the next-generation information and communication technology expected to become the foundation of all industries and societies in the 2030s, and strengthen Japan’s international competitiveness by establishing elemental technologies and reflecting them in international standards.
2. Project overview
NICT will conduct open-call research and development with private companies and universities on the elemental technologies focused on the functions required for Beyond 5G (ultra-fast and high capacity, ultra-low latency, ultra-numerous connectivity, ultra-low power consumption, ultra-security and resiliency, scalability, and autonomy) under the following programs.

Beyond 5G International Joint R&D Program
Beyond 5G Seeds Creation Program
3. Outline of solicitation
NICT will solicit research implementers (1st solicitation) for the Beyond 5G R & D Promotion Project (General Type) under the FY2021 Supplementary Budget as follows.

Solicitation period
From Friday, April 22, to noon on Monday, May 23, 2022 (Applications submitted by postal mail must also arrive no later than this deadline.)
