May 12, 2022 Solicitation of Opinions on Draft Report on Information and Communications Policy with a View to 2030

On May 11, 2022, the Information and Communications Policy Committee (chaired by MORIKAWA Hiroyuki, professor, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo) under the Information and Communications Council compiled a draft report on information and communications policy with a view to 2030.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will solicit opinions on this draft report from Friday, May 13 through Monday, June 13, 2022.

1. Overview

In response to the inquiry from the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications made on September 30, 2021, the Information and Communications Policy Committee and the Policy Board held discussions on information and communications policy with a view to 2030.
At the 58th meeting held on May 11, 2022, the Information and Communications Policy Committee compiled a draft report. Accordingly, MIC will solicit opinions on this draft report.

3. Deadline for submission of opinions

No later than Monday, June 13, 2022 (submission of opinions by postal mail must also arrive no later than the deadline)

4. How to obtain reference information

The Draft Report on Information and Communications Policy with a View to 2030 and the information on the procedure of solicitation of opinions will be made available for viewing and obtaining copies at the ICT Strategy Policy Division, Information and Communications Bureau, MIC (11th Floor, Central Government Building No. 2). These materials will also be posted on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/en/ ).

5. Future schedule

The Information and Communications Policy Committee will take into consideration the submitted opinions and finalize the report.
