May 17, 2022 Results of Seventh Meeting of Japan-India Joint Working Group

On May 13, 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held the seventh meeting of the Japan-India Joint Working Group with the Ministry of Communications of India. This meeting was held under Japan-India ICT Comprehensive Cooperation Framework. The participants from Japan included Mr. SASAKI Yuji (Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination (International Affairs)) and representatives of Japanese ICT-related enterprises. The participants from India included Mr. Shri V.L Kantha Rao (Additional Secretary (Technology) of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications) and representatives of Indian ICT-related enterprises. In this meeting, discussions were held on future cooperation between Japan and India related to ICT technologies, including 5G/Beyond 5G, Open RAN, and submarine cable systems.

4. Results of the meeting

MIC and the Ministry of Communications of India shared the status of efforts in both countries for 5G Open RAN and Beyond 5G, and exchanged information on initiatives related to ICT and digital technology, including the submarine cable project, Connected Cars, and investment promotion.
