May 18, 2022 Announcement of Results of FY2021 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage and Solicitation of Opinions on Draft Evaluation Results of FY2021 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) compiled the results of the FY2021 survey on actual radio spectrum usage. Furthermore, MIC created a draft of the evaluation results of the survey based on the results mentioned above and will solicit opinions on the draft from Thursday, May 19 through Friday, June 17, 2022.

1. Purpose of survey and evaluation

MIC has been conducting a survey on actual radio spectrum usage and evaluating the survey results annually under the provision of Article 26-2 of the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950) since 2003 to comprehensively and systematically promote measures contributing to the effective use of the radio spectrum, including change of the Frequency Assignment Plan.

2. Outline of survey

1. Subject of survey

Radio stations operated at frequencies exceeding 714 MHz by the government, local public bodies, and private companies as of April 1, 2021.

Survey items and survey method stipulated in Articles 5 and 5-2 of the Ministerial Order concerning Surveys on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage (MIC Order No. 110 of 2002)

2. Period for submission of opinions

From Thursday, May 19 to no later than Friday, June 17, 2022
(Opinions, if submitted by mail, will be accepted if postmarked on or before the deadline.)

4. Future schedule

Considering the results of the solicitation of opinions, MIC will promptly make an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council about the Draft Evaluation Results of the FY2021 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage and announce the results.
