June 20, 2022 Result of Solicitation of Opinions on Draft Report on Information and Communications Technology Strategy Beyond 5G

The Subcommittee on Technology Strategy (chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, professor, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo) under the Department on Information and Communications Technology of the Information and Communications Council solicited opinions from Saturday, May 7 through Monday, June 6, 2022, on its draft report titled "Information and Communications Technology Strategy Beyond 5G." The result of the solicitation is published as follows.

1. Overview

With the aim of building a robust and vibrant society in the 2030s, the Subcommittee on Technology Strategy under the Department on Information and Communications Technology of the Information and Communications Council solicited opinions from Saturday, May 7 through Monday, June 6, 2022, on its draft report titled "Information and Communications Technology Strategy Beyond 5G" (Inquiry No. 27, dated September 30, 2021) to develop strategies for R&D and international standardization toward the realization of Beyond 5G, the next-generation information and communication infrastructure that is expected to become the foundation of all industries and social activities.
As a result, 36 opinions were submitted. Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) discloses the submitted opinions to the public and the view of the Subcommittee on Technology Strategy on the opinions.

Draft of the report "Information and Communications Technology Strategy Beyond 5G"

3. Future schedule

The Department on Information and Communications Technology (chaired by OIE Yuji, professor emeritus of Kyushu Institute of Technology) of the Information and Communications Council will deliberate the matters in this report at the next meeting considering the result of this solicitation of opinions.
