July 15, 2022 Official Announcement about Report on Evaluation Results of FY2021 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage and Results of Appeal for Opinions

Report from Radio Regulatory Council

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) evaluated the degree of effective use of radio waves based on a fiscal 2021 survey on actual radio spectrum usage and drafted a report on the evaluation results of the fiscal 2021 survey on actual radio spectrum usage. Accordingly, MIC solicited opinions on the draft from Thursday, May 19, through Friday, June 17, 2022. Considering the results of the opinions received, MIC submitted an inquiry about the appropriateness of a finalized draft to the Radio Regulatory Council (Chaired by HIBINO Takashi, Chairman of the Members of the Board of Daiwa Securities Group Inc.) today. Then MIC received a report from the Radio Regulatory Council stating its approval as inquired.
Accordingly, MIC has decided to announce the report on the evaluation results of the fiscal 2021 survey on actual radio spectrum usage and the results of the solicitation of opinions.

1. Results of solicitation of opinions

MIC made an appeal for opinions from Thursday, May 19, through Friday, June 17, 2022, on the draft of the evaluation results of the fiscal 2021 survey on actual radio spectrum usage in the frequency bands below 714 MHz (hereafter referred to as "the evaluation result report") and received 16 opinions.

2. Report from Radio Regulatory Council and announcement of evaluation result report

    Considering the opinions received on the draft report of evaluation results, MIC submitted an inquiry about the appropriateness of the draft to the Radio Regulatory Council today and received a report from the Council stating its approval regarding the appropriateness.

    MIC announces the report of evaluation results in accordance with the provisions of Article 26-2, Paragraph 3 of the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950). Attachment 2 is available for viewing at the Radio Policy Division, Radio Department, Telecommunications Bureau, and the Regional Bureau of Telecommunications, etc. (including the Okinawa Office of Telecommunications).
