July 25, 2022 Solicitations of Opinions on Draft Guidelines for Appropriate Settings in Using and Providing Cloud Services and Solicitation of Examples of Initiatives
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) recently drafted Guidelines for Appropriate Settings for Using and Providing Cloud Services in order to promote appropriate settings in using and providing cloud services. Accordingly, MIC will solicit opinions on the draft guidelines from Tuesday, July 26, through Wednesday, August 24, 2022. MIC will also solicit examples of initiatives to promote appropriate settings for cloud services.
1. Background and outline
In recent years, businesses operating cloud services have more frequently experienced incidents that could lead to an information leak, which has become a social problem as the risk associated with the use of cloud services.
In view of such situation, MIC studied measures to promote appropriate settings in using and providing cloud services and thereby promoting the safe and secure use of cloud services, while hearing opinions from experts.
Based on the study results, MIC drafted Guidelines for Appropriate Settings for Using and Providing Cloud Services. Accordingly, MIC will solicit opinions on the draft guidelines from Tuesday, July 26, through Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
In addition, to obtain a reference for future measures, MIC will also solicit examples of initiatives to promote appropriate settings for cloud services according to the purpose of the guidelines.

4. Solicitation of examples of initiatives
Along with solicitation of opinions on the draft guidelines, MIC will also solicit examples of initiatives carried out by companies and organizations (cloud service providers or users) to promote appropriate settings for cloud services, with a view to obtaining a reference on future measures.
The submitted examples may be made public with consent from the submitters.
