July 26, 2022 Formulation of MIC's Communications Overseas Expansion Action Plan 2025

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) announces its Communications Overseas Expansion Action Plan 2025, which it has formulated in order to further clarify the priority areas in which overseas expansion measures should be promoted toward 2025, based on the changes in the situation and environment of Japan's overseas expansion.

1. Overview

MIC has been promoting overseas expansion in various fields, including information and communications, mail, firefighting, statistics, and administrative consultation, and has contributed to solving problems facing countries around the world as well as to supporting the overseas expansion of Japanese companies and revitalizing the Japanese economy.
Meanwhile, looking at the situation surrounding Japan's overseas expansion, there has been the global COVID-19 pandemic and the associated growing expectations for digital technology with an eye to the post-COVID-19 era. In addition, concerns have surfaced about supply chain risk associated with changes in the international situation and about security in cyberspace, and the importance of contribution to global climate change issues has increased.
Based on these viewpoints, MIC has formulated its Communications Overseas Expansion Action Plan 2025, which specifies the priority areas in which MIC should promote overseas expansion measures toward 2025, as well as the basic policy of overseas expansion measures and the specific measures to be taken.
