August 1, 2022 Solicitation of Opinions on Draft Revision of the Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) prepared a draft revision of the Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act. Accordingly, MIC will solicit opinions on the draft revision from Tuesday, August 2, through Monday, September 5, 2022.

1. Outline of revision

The draft aims to partially revise the Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act, based on discussions at the Study Group on Consumer Protection Rules (chief investigator: NIIMI Ikufumi, Professor Emeritus, Meiji University).

2. Procedure of solicitation of opinions

Subject of solicitation of opinions: Draft revision of the Guidelines for Consumer Protection Rules for the Telecommunications Business Act
Period for submission of opinions: From Tuesday, August 2, through Monday, September 5, 2022
(Submission of opinions by postal mail must also arrive no later than the deadline.)

The draft revision of the guidelines and the procedure of solicitation of opinions are also posted on the "Press Release" page of MIC's website, and made available for viewing and obtaining copies at the First Telecommunications Consumer Policy Division, Telecommunications Bureau, MIC (10th Floor, Central Government Building No.2). They will also be posted on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/ ).

3. Future schedule

MIC will promptly revise the guidelines by taking into consideration the submitted opinions.
