August 4, 2022 Publication of Recommendations on Amateur Radio Use for Wireless Human Resource Development

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has held sessions of the Amateur Radio Advisory Board for Wireless Human Resource Development (chaired by FUJII Takeo, Professor, Advanced Wireless Communication Research Center, the University of Electro-Communications) since January 2022. As the Advisory Board has recently compiled Recommendations on Amateur Radio Use for Wireless Human Resource Development, MIC releases the recommendations to the public.

1. Background

With an aim to realize a system and environment that facilitate amateur radio use from the viewpoint of fostering wireless human resources, the Amateur Radio Advisory Board for Wireless Human Resource Development has held sessions from January 2022 to discuss various topics. In particular, an important perspective in the discussions was to develop an environment that makes it easier for beginners, including young people as future leaders, to start amateur radio. The discussions covered topics such as expanding hands-on opportunities to get to know and learn about the fun of amateur radio and radio waves, as well as opportunities to use amateur radio and radio waves, accelerating the period required for opening and starting operation of amateur radio stations, simplifying and rationalizing the amateur radio station license system, and issues to be addressed by the amateur radio sector.
As the Advisory Board has recently compiled Recommendations on Amateur Radio Use for Wireless Human Resource Development based on its discussions, MIC releases the recommendations to the public.
