August 5, 2022 Result of Solicitation of Opinions on Japan's Views for World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) (Draft)

From Wednesday, June 1, through Thursday, June 30, 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on "Japan's Views for World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) (Draft)" regarding the agenda items of World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23) to be held from Monday, November 20, to Friday, December 15, 2023. As 40 opinions were submitted in response to the solicitation, MIC discloses the submitted opinions along with MIC’s views on the opinions.

1. Background

The World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) is one of the important conferences of the radiocommunication section of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The WRC is held in order to revise the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and the satellite orbits. WRC-23 is to be held in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) from Monday, November 20, to Friday, December 15, 2023.
MIC prepared Japan's Views for WRC-23 (Draft), and solicited opinions on this draft from Wednesday, June 1, through Thursday, June 30, 2022.

2. Future schedule

MIC will use these views as the basis in its activities relating to the 4th Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Conference Preparatory Group Meeting for WRC-23 (APT WRC Preparatory Group Meeting) to be held in Thailand (Bangkok) from Monday, August 15, to Saturday, August 20, 2022, and the ITU's various other meetings.
