August 26, 2022 Release of FY2021 Survey Report on Usage Time of Information and Communications Media and Information Behavior

The Institute for Information and Communications Policy (IICP) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) surveyed the usage time of information and communications media and information behavior for FY2021 as joint research with Professor HASHIMOTO Yoshiaki at the School of Arts and Science, Tokyo Woman’s Christian University, and others. As a survey report has been compiled, MIC releases the report.

1. Background and purpose

This survey aims to obtain continuous information on the length and time slots of usage, usage rates, and reliability of internet media, including social media, as well as information and communications media, such as television and radio, and to clarify the relationships between types of media, including those other than information and communications media, such as newspapers and magazines, and changes in their usage conditions. The survey has been conducted every year since 2012 in collaboration with Professor HASHIMOTO Yoshiaki at the School of Arts and Science, Tokyo Woman’s Christian University, and others* (this is the tenth survey).
