September 14, 2022 Solicitation of Opinions on the Revision of Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. and Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Co., Ltd.

Based on the Japan Post Holdings and Japan Post Monitoring Report 2022 published on June 17, 2022, following discussion at the postal administration monitoring meeting, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) drafted revisions to the Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. and the Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Co., Ltd. Accordingly, MIC will solicit opinions on these draft revisions from Thursday, September 15 through Friday, October 14, 2022.

1. Overview

MIC will solicit opinions on the draft revisions to the Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. and the Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Co., Ltd., which it has drawn up based on the Japan Post Holdings and Japan Post Monitoring Report 2022 published on June 17, 2022.

2. Procedure of solicitation of opinions, etc.

(1) Subject of solicitation of opinions

• Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd.: Comparison of old and new text, and draft revisions
• Guidelines for Supervision of Japan Post Co., Ltd.: Comparison of old and new text, and draft revisions

(2) Deadline for submission of opinions
No later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 (submission of opinions by postal mail must also arrive no later than the deadline)

3. Future schedule

MIC will promptly revise the guidelines based on the submitted opinions.

4. How to obtain reference information

The draft revisions of the guidelines and the procedure of solicitation of opinions will be posted on the "Press Release" page of MIC's website at around 3:00 p.m. today (September 14), and made available for viewing and obtaining copies at the Planning Division, Postal Services Policy Planning Department, MIC (11th Floor, MIC). They will also be posted on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/ ).
