September 16, 2022 Partial Reports from the Information and Communications Council on the “Technical Requirements of Telecommunications Facilities in Response to Increased Diversity and Complexity of Network Associated with the Development of Virtualization Technology”

On September 16, 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council concerning the “technical requirements of telecommunications facilities in response to increased diversity and complexity of network associated with the development of virtualization technology” as a part of the “technical requirements of telecommunications facilities corresponding to the switchover of networks to IP” (inquiry number 2020, dated October 31, 2005).

1. Background

IP Network Facilities Subcommittee of the Department on Information and Communications Technology, Information and Communications Council, has held discussions on the “technical requirements of telecommunications facilities corresponding to the switchover of networks to IP” (inquiry number 2020, dated October 31, 2005), from November, 2005.
Today, MIC received a partial report on the first report on the deliberation by the IP Network Facilities Subcommittee that took place from April to September, 2022, on the “technical requirements of MVNOs designated with voice transmission mobile phone number” as a part of the “technical requirements of telecommunications facilities in response to increased diversity and complexity of network associated with the development of virtualization technology” from the Information and Communications Council.

2. Future schedule

With consideration of the partial report, MIC will promptly make institutional developments.
