September 16, 2022 Release of Report on Current Situation from Study Group on Measures to Suppress Access to Piracy Sites on the Internet and Results of Solicitation of Opinions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions from Friday, July 15, through Thursday, August 18, 2022, on the draft of the Report on Current Situation from Study Group on Measures to Suppress Access to Piracy Sites on the Internet and Results of Solicitation of Opinions (chaired by SOGABE Masahiro, professor, Graduate School of Law, Legal, and Political Studies Professor, Kyoto University).
MIC releases the Report on Current Situation from Study Group on Measures to Suppress Access to Piracy Sites on the Internet, which has been finalized based on the results of the solicitation of opinions, and also discloses the solicitation results.

1. Background

The study group discussed measures against the piracy sites on the Internet, and compiled a draft of the report on current situation at its ninth session held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. As a result of soliciting opinions on the draft from Friday, July 15, through Thursday, August 18, 2022, MIC received 28 opinions.
MIC releases the Report on Current Situation from Study Group on Measures to Suppress Access to Piracy Sites on the Internet, which has been finalized based on the received opinions and the results of discussions at the tenth session of the study group held on Thursday, September 15, 2022.

MIC will post the reference information on the public comment page of the e-Gov (https://www.e-gov.go.jp/ Open a new window) and distribute it at the contact point.
