September 20, 2022 Solicitation of Opinions on Draft Report on Ideal State of Universal Service Grant System in Light of Changes in Fixed-line Phone Environment

The Telecommunications Business Policy Committee (chaired by MORIKAWA Hiroyuki, professor, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo) under the Information and Communications Council compiled a draft report concerning the ideal state of the universal service grant system in light of changes in the fixed-line phone environment (Inquiry No. 1233 dated December 8, 2021), and solicited opinions on the draft report from Wednesday, July 27 through Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
As a result, eight opinions were submitted. Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) discloses the submitted opinions to the public and the view of the Telecommunications Business Policy Committee on the opinions.
