September 28, 2022 Authorization of Change to the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) Broadcasting Reception Rules
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted an inquiry today to the Radio Regulatory Council (Chaired by HIBINO Takashi, Chairman of the Board, Daiwa Securities Group Inc.) concerning authorization for a change to the NHK Broadcasting Reception Rules applied by NHK (headed by MAEDA Terunobu, President) based on the provision of Article 64, Paragraph 3 of the Broadcasting Act (Act No. 132 of 1950).
A report was received from the Council stating its approval as inquired.
1. Summary of change
Considering the influence of COVID-19 infection, NHK is taking measures for receivers, including the elimination of the need to pay delay interests for a period from April 2020 to September 2022. This authorization will change the Reception Rules to extend receiver’s immunity from delayed interests until March 2023.
2. Period of implementation
The change will take effect on October 1, 2022
