January 11, 2023 Holding a meeting of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity Measures in Information and Communications Network

In order to cope with the situation where cyberattacks targeting IoT devices are continuing to occur in large numbers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has established the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity Measures in Information and Communications Network (Chief Investigator: GOTO Atsuhiro, President, Institute of Information Security) under the Cybersecurity Task Force to examine cybersecurity measures in the information network.

1. Outline

With cyberspace becoming a public space used by actors of all kinds, and the information and communications network becoming an important and indispensable infrastructure for people's everyday lives and economic activities, troubles with the functions of the information and communications network due to cyberattacks may seriously affect society and the economy. Therefore, ensuring the safety and reliability of the information and communications network is a pressing issue.
Accordingly, MIC will examine cybersecurity measures in the information and communications network, including NOTICE (National Operation Towards IoT Clean Environment) and the Comprehensive Demonstration on Active Cybersecurity Measures Taken by Telecommunications Carriers, in order to cope with the situation where cyberattacks targeting IoT devices are continuing to occur in large numbers.

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, and subsequent meetings will be held in succession.
