October 27, 2023 Results of Solicitation for Opinions on Partial Amendments to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act

Technical requirements for an accident reporting institution and telecommunications facilities, etc., corresponding to digitalization
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on drafted amendments to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act (Ministerial Ordinance of MPT No. 25 of 1985) from Wednesday, September 13 through Thursday, October 12, 2023. As a result, three opinions were submitted. Accordingly, MIC has decided to open the submitted opinions to the public, along with MIC’s views on the opinions.

1. Overview of the revisions

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the Information and Communications Council issued a partial report on the technical requirements for an accident reporting system and telecommunications facilities etc., corresponding to the advancement of digitization. In light of this report, the Telecommunications Business Act Enforcement Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Act are to be partially amended.

2. Results of solicitation for opinions

The opinions submitted, and the MIC’s views on them are shown in the attachment.

3. Promulgation and enforcement

Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, MIC will promptly amend the ministerial ordinances, etc.
