October 6, 2023 Launch of GCOT

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), together with relevant government agencies in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States, has launched the Global Coalition on Telecommunications (GCOT) as a multilateral cooperation framework for telecommunications.

With the need for cooperation to promote innovation in telecommunications, including the development of diverse supply chains, secure and interoperable standards, and future telecommunications technologies, such as 6G, MIC and relevant government agencies in each country have launched the GCOT. The GCOT aims to 1) enhance cooperation and coordination among GCOT participating countries, 2) build a broader international consensus on key areas of telecommunications policy, 3) enable dialogue between industry, government, and academia, and 4) promote innovation and growth opportunities in the industry.
