November 17, 2023 Results of Solicitation for Opinions on Draft Ministerial Ordinance for Partial Amendments to Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act
Relaxation of PLC installation requirements and expansion of type verification for IH cookers

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions from Thursday, September 28 through Friday, October 27, 2023, on a draft ministerial ordinance for partial amendments to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act in order to relax installation requirements for broadband power line carrier (PLC) communications equipment and to expand the scope of type verification for induction heating (IH) cookers. As a result, six opinions were submitted, and MIC has decided to open the submitted opinions and MIC’s views on them to the public.

1. Overview

MIC solicited opinions from Thursday, September 28 through Friday, October 27, 2023, on the draft ministerial ordinance for partial amendments to the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act in order to relax the requirements for PLC installation, which currently applies only to power lines connected to electric lines maintained and operated by general transmission and distribution companies, and to expand the scope of type verification for high-power IH cookers, whose use is expanding. The solicitation for opinions was held from Thursday, September 28, through Friday, October 27, 2023.

2. Results of solicitation for opinions

As a result, six opinions were submitted. The opinions submitted, along with MIC’s views on them, are shown in the attachment.

3. Future plans

Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, MIC will promptly amend the Ministerial Ordinance and pertinent conditions.
