December 12, 2023 Announcement of Contents of Notifications concerning Utilization Business of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (headed by President SHIBUYA Naoki) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (headed by President MORIBAYASHI Masaaki) recently submitted notifications concerning their business according to Paragraph 6, Article 2 of the Act on Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, etc. (Act No. 85 of 1984). Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will announce the contents of their notifications to the public.

1. Overview

According to Paragraph 6, Article 2 of the Act on Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, etc., in cases where Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereafter referred to as “NTT East and West”) intend to run any business specified in the same provision, they must in advance notify the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of the matters provided for in MIC’s ministerial ordinance.
Accordingly, NTT East and West submitted notifications describing the respective matters listed in Article 2-4 of the Rules for Enforcement of the Act on Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, etc. (Ministerial Ordinance of MPT No. 23 of 1985) on December 1, 2023. Accordingly, MIC has decided to announce the contents under Article 2-5 of the same ordinance.

2. Content of the business described in the notification

The respective notifications state that NTT East and West will commence their services from January 2024.
