February 1, 2023 Online Course on Wi-Fi Security Measures

As Wi-Fi (wireless LANs) has in recent years become prevalent in a variety of settings, including in urban spaces and individual homes, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure the security of Wi-Fi, from the perspective of Wi-Fi users and providers alike. In light of this situation and following on from a similar program last year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will seek to promote widespread awareness of Wi-Fi security measures by providing a free online course enabling people to learn about basic Wi-Fi security measures. The course, entitled Learn About Wi-Fi Security Measures Right Now, will begin on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, and MIC will start accepting applications to participate today.

From Wednesday, March 1 through Sunday, March 26, 2023

3. Course outline

This course consists of 12 streamed video modules, which, with the aid of animations, provide an easily understood explanation of security measures for ensuring the safe provision and use of Wi-Fi. At around five minutes each, the modules are compact and allow participants to watch only the videos in which they are interested. There is no charge to take this course.

4. How to participate

This course is available free of charge in the form of streamed video modules on the gacco massive open online course (MOOC) platform operated by DOCOMO gacco, Inc. Those wishing to take the course will need to register as a gacco user and also register to take the course (both are free of charge).
