February 7, 2023 The Ideal State of the Basic Telecommunications Service System Relating to Broadband Services, etc.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) today received a report from the Information and Communications Council (chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, Executive Advisor, NEC Corporation) concerning the ideal state of the basic telecommunications service system relating to broadband services, etc. (inquiry number 1234, dated June 21, 2022).

1. Background

The report was compiled in response to the inquiry concerning the ideal state of the basic telecommunications service system relating to broadband services, etc. made to the Information and Communications Council on June 21, 2022, based on the outcomes of investigations and deliberations by the Council's Telecommunications Business Policy Committee, Universal Service Policy Subcommittee, and Broadband Infrastructure Working Group, and the results of a solicitation of opinions.

2. Future plans

In consideration of this report, MIC will take the necessary measures.
