April 3, 2023 Decision on Granting Subsidies and Additional Public Solicitation for FY2023 Project to Support Radio System Dissemination (Focusing on Radio Wave Shielding Measures Targeting Medical Facilities)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided today to grant a subsidy to the Japan Mobile Communications Infrastructure Association for the Project to Support Radio System Dissemination, specifically targeting radio wave shielding measures for medical facilities. In addition, MIC has decided to conduct an additional public solicitation for applications and would like to announce the same.

2. Project overview

Overview of the project to support radio system dissemination (Covering radio wave shielding measures)

The government subsidizes part of the installation costs of mobile communications relay facilities in places where radio waves are shielded, including road tunnels, railway tunnels, and medical facilities(*), for organizations such as general incorporated associations.

    Implementing entities: Organizations, such as general incorporated associations

    Target areas: Areas of road tunnels, railway tunnels, and medical facilities
  3. 3.
    Subsidized items: Mobile communications relay facilities (including towers, office buildings, antennas, and optical cables)
  4. 4.
    Subsidy rate: 1/2 for road tunnels and 1/3 for railway tunnels and medical facilities

(*) Medical facilities eligible for support are core disaster base hospitals and regional disaster base hospitals (limited to those with approximately 300 or more beds and whose secondary medical care area is a “regional city” or “depopulated area”).

The additional public solicitation for applications will close once the budget is exhausted.
