April 5, 2023 Public Solicitation for Proposals for FY2023 Smart City Promotion Projects for Solving Community Issues

As part of efforts to systematically implement smart cities nationwide, the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) will collaborate to conduct a public solicitation for smart city-related projects for fiscal 2023 from today through May 10, 2023.

MIC subsidizes a portion of the costs of public entities, including local governments, for urban OS development and improvement and urban OS-connected services. These local efforts aim to solve various local issues (e.g., disaster prevention, security/monitoring, and shopping support) by utilizing digital technology and data, leading to local revitalization. To solve regional issues by implementing smart cities, the Cabinet Office, MIC, METI, and MLIT will jointly issue a public solicitation for smart city-related projects, including the Smart City Promotion Project for Solving Community Issues. As done so in fiscal 2022, the Joint Review Committee for Projects Related to Smart Cities will be established for public solicitation and screening of the projects and work with related ministries and agencies that implement smart city-related projects.

1. Smart city-related projects of ministries and agencies as targets of joint solicitation (projects subject to joint review)

(3) Regional New MaaS Creation Promotion Project (Manufacturing Industries Bureau, METI)
