May 11, 2023 Signing of Letter of Intent for Cooperation in Communication Technologies between Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Mr. MATSUMOTO Takeaki, and Minister for Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Bettina Stark-Watzinger

On May 11, 2023, Mr. MATSUMOTO Takeaki, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, held bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Ms. Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Minister of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany, and signed a Letter of Intent in the field of communication technologies for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications（MIC） and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research （BMBF）.

The Letter of Intent between MIC and BMBF has been signed on the following items, related to Beyond 5G/6G and future communication technologies.

• Promoting R&D collaborative projects with participation of industry, academia, and government
• Cooperating in standardization activities towards global standards
• Promoting the exchange of researchers between academic institutions, research institutes and industry partners
• Holding joint workshops etc.

Based on this Letter of Intent, MIC will further promote cooperation on Beyond 5G/6G and future communication technologies between the two countries.
