June 20, 2023 Results of Solicitation for Opinions on Draft Report from New-generation Mobile Communications System Subcommittee Technical requirements for relay stations and high-power terminals, etc., for expanded use of 5G, etc. as part of technical requirements for new-generation mobile communications systems

The New-generation Mobile Communications System Subcommittee (headed by Chief Investigator MORIKAWA Hiroyuki, Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo) of the Department on Information and Communications Technology under the Information and Communications drafted a report in response to MIC’s Inquiry No. 2038, dated October 12, 2016, on technical requirements for relay stations and high-power terminals, etc. for expanded use of 5G, etc. as part of technical requirements for new-generation mobile communications systems, and solicited opinions on the draft report from Tuesday, May 2, through Monday, June 5, 2023.
As a result, 19 opinions were submitted, and the opinions submitted and the Subcommittee’s views on these opinions are now made public.

3. Future plans

Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, the matter will be discussed at the next meeting of the Department on Information and Communications Technology (chaired by OIE Yuji, Honorary Professor, Kyushu Institute of Technology) under the Information and Communications Council.
