June 7, 2023 Results of Solicitation for Opinions on Draft Notice for Partial Amendments to Notice on Test Procedures for Characteristic Tests

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions from Thursday, April 6 through Wednesday, May 10, 2023, on a draft notice to partially revise the Notice and pertinent conditions to specify methods for characteristic tests.
As a result, 12 opinions were submitted, and MIC has decided to make the submitted opinions and the MIC’s views on the opinions public. MIC plans to revise the relevant provisions in the future promptly.

1. Background

MIC has recently examined the test methods for specified radio equipment for amateur stations that use SHF-band radio waves. As a result, adding a test method for the specified radio equipment concerned was found appropriate. Therefore, MIC decided to partially revise MIC Notice No. 88 of 2004 (subject of establishing procedures for characteristic tests) based on the provisions of Appended Table 1, Item 1 (3) of the Ordinance Concerning Technical Regulations Conformity Certification, etc. of Specified Radio Equipment (Ministerial Ordinance of MPT No. 37 of 1981). At the same time, it was also decided to reorganize a ministerial ordinance related to amateur stations. For this reason, MIC held a solicitation for opinions on these proposed amendments from Thursday, April 6 through Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

2. Results of solicitation for opinions

The opinions submitted and MIC’s views on the opinions are shown in the Attachment in PDF.

3. Future plans

MIC intends to promptly make revisions based on the results of the solicitation for opinions.
