July 14, 2023 Determination of Candidates for Adoption as Demonstration Areas for the Demonstration Project for Creating Examples of Regional Problem Solving Using Telework

Based on the results of an evaluation by outside experts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has selected a number of candidates for adoption from among proposals submitted in response to the public solicitation for the Demonstration Project for Creating Examples of Regional Problem Solving Using Telework.

1. Overview

Telework is a tool to realize flexible work styles by effectively utilizing time and place through ICT. With the recent spread of COVID-19 infection, society has recognized its usefulness, and many companies and organizations have begun to utilize it. On the other hand, there is concern that the difference in telework implementation rates between urban and rural areas is widening the gap in work styles.
Under these circumstances, MIC decided to implement a regional demonstration project to build a model for solving policy issues that span multiple fields in rural areas, such as the creation of local employment opportunities, in a cross-sectional manner through the use of telework to promote the effective use of telework in rural areas. Accordingly, MIC made public solicitation from Friday, May 12 through Friday, June 9, 2023, for proposals for areas where the demonstration would be conducted.
