Announcement of Evaluation Results of FY2022 Survey on Actual Radio Spectrum Usage (Targeting 714 MHz Band or Below) and Results of Solicitation for Opinions

The Radio Regulatory Council (chaired by SASASE Iwao, Professor Emeritus at Keio University) has today reported the evaluation results of the fiscal 2022 survey on actual radio spectrum usage (targeting 714 MHz band or below) to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications.

1. Background

In accordance with the provisions of Article 26-3 of the Radio Act (Act No. 131 of 1950), when the Radio Regulatory Council receives a report from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) on the results of a survey on actual radio spectrum usage, the Council is tasked with evaluating the degree of effective radio spectrum usage, reporting the results to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, and making them public.
The Radio Regulatory Council solicited opinions from Thursday, June 22 through Friday, July 21, 2023, on a draft of the evaluation results of the fiscal 2022 survey on actual radio spectrum usage (targeting 714 MHz band or below) and received five opinions. After deliberations based on the opinions submitted, the Council has today reported to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications on the evaluation results of the fiscal 2022 survey on actual radio spectrum usage (targeting 714 MHz band or below).
