October 1, 2024 Revision of the “Guidelines for the Approval of Japan Broadcasting Corporation’s Internet Utilization Business Implementation Standards” in line with the implementation of the Amended Broadcast Act

 The “Guidelines for the Approval of Japan Broadcasting Corporation’s Internet Utilization Business Implementation Standards” was revised based on the results of public consultations on draft ministerial ordinances, etc., to amend the Broadcasting Act Enforcement Regulations, etc. partially, and report from the Radio Regulatory Council (Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Press release).
 We are also announcing that the revised Enforcement Regulations of the Broadcasting Act, which were revised based on the report, have been promulgated as of today.

1. Particulars of revision

 The “Act to Partially Amend the Radio Act” (Law No. 36 of 2024. Hereinafter referred to as the “Amended Broadcast Act”) promulgated on Friday, May 24, 2024 will come into effect as of the date specified by a Cabinet Order within a period not exceeding 1.5 years from the date of promulgation. MIC, to prepare the related regulations for the enforcement of the Amended Broadcast Act, conducted a public consultation for 30 days from Wednesday, July 10, 2024 to Thursday, August 8, 2024 regarding the “draft ministerial ordinances, etc., to partially amend the Broadcasting Act Enforcement Regulations, etc.” and “Guidelines for Approval of Standards for Voluntary Distribution Operations of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (Draft) (Revision of the Guidelines for the Approval of Japan Broadcasting Corporation’s Internet Utilization Business Implementation Standards)” This press release is to announce the revised “Guidelines for Approval of Standards for Voluntary Distribution Operations of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation”.
