November is Telework Month.
- We will implement intensive initiatives to promote the spread of telework. -
The Telework Month Executive Committee (composed of representatives from the Cabinet Secretariat’s Cabinet Bureau of Personnel Affairs, the Cabinet Office’s Office for Promotion of Regional Revitalization, the Digital Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the Japan Tourism Agency, the Japan Telework Association, and the Japan Telework Society) will undertake intensive activities to promote the spread of telework in November, which has been designated a telework month. During Telework Month, the MIC will collaborate with related ministries, agencies, and organizations to hold events and activities aimed at further promoting and establishing telework as a flexible work style that makes effective use of time and space.
■ Major initiatives
1. The MIC will join forces with the Cabinet Secretariat, Cabinet Office, the Digital Agency, MHLW, METI, MLIT, the Japan Tourism Agency, and the Ministry of the Environment to issue a request for prefectures, government-designated cities, and economic organizations, etc., to cooperate with Telework Month.
2. We will hold seminars across Japan with the purpose of promoting and establishing telework.
3. To provide companies and organizations intending to introduce and utilize telework with references, we will solicit and select exemplary cases as "Telework Top Runner 2024." To recognize particularly outstanding initiatives as recipients of "Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award for Telework Top Runner 2024," we will hold an award ceremony on Monday, November 25, 2024.
The award ceremony will be held jointly with the "Shining Telework Award" ceremony by the MHLW and the "Region Revitalizing Telework Award" ceremony by the Cabinet Office’s Office for Promotion of Regional Revitalization.
